"Nikka Coffey Grain" is a grain whiskey with rich flavor. It is made using a "coffee continuous distiller" that is rare in the world. Compared with ordinary grain whiskey, the sweetness of the raw materials is better preserved because of the coffee distillation method. It can be said that the mild aftertaste in Nikka's blended whiskey comes from the subtle sweetness of "Coffey Grain". It's more than just a base for blending whiskey, its deep flavor is worth savoring.

Woody and sweet vanilla aromas blend together to evoke the sweet aroma of chocolate. Its distinctive features include a smooth, honey-like mouthfeel, a light body, a fresh and soft flavor, and a refreshing finish.

Masataka Taketsuru insists on "real deliciousness". At the Nikka Whiskey Miyagikyo Distillery, traditional grain whiskey is made using the world's rare "coffee continuous still". This type of still was invented around 1830 and named "Coffey Still" after the inventor, Aeneas Coffey. Although the current mainstream continuous distillers can improve the purity of alcohol, they also remove aroma components. However, the distillate produced by the less efficient "coffee continuous still" can retain more of the aroma and ingredients from the raw materials.

When these liquids, distilled and aged in a coffee-style continuous still, are mixed with malt, they not only highlight the personality of the malt, but also create new aromas and flavors. When Nikka Whiskey founder Masataka Taketsuru introduced this still in 1963, it was considered "extremely old-fashioned" even by the standards of the time, but this was precisely his pursuit of "real deliciousness."
