Grace Kayagatake Koshu 2023 - An Elegant Wine from One of Japan's Famous Mountains
Mount Kayagatake is known as the final resting place of Kyuya Fukada, author of "100 Famous Japanese Mountains." This wine is crafted from Koshu grapes grown at elevations of 400 to 700 meters on the foothills of Mount Kayagatake, including vineyards under the winery's direct management.
"Kayagatake Koshu" follows the winemaking techniques taught by the late Professor Denis Dubourdieu of Bordeaux University. Rather than relying on sur lie aging or oak barrel maturation, this wine honestly expresses the natural character of the grapes through clean and pure winemaking methods—a pivotal experience that transformed Grace Wine's philosophy. The result is a delicate wine that combines refreshing qualities with dignified strength.

2023 Vintage Characteristics: From March to May, favorable weather with appropriate rainfall and sunshine allowed for early budding and steady growth. The rainy season ended early, with veraison beginning in late July, followed by continued good weather that maintained the grapes' healthy condition. Even during a summer that broke temperature records across Japan, Yamanashi experienced minimal rainfall, allowing grape ripeness to steadily increase. The harvest period was free from typhoon influence, with grapes ripening at an unprecedented pace.
Award: At the Decanter World Wine Awards, "Grace Kayagatake Koshu 2017" won a Gold Award.
